Scholarships

Talent Scholarships are Available

Talent scholarships up to $16,000.00 are available to individuals with exceptional abilities in performance and production. Scholarships are competitive; awards are made to Theatre majors based upon audition or interview, letters of recommendation, and potential for leadership in the classroom and production.

Talent Scholarship Requirements

Materials:
Submitted and received no later than February 8, 2008.

  • One (1) letter of intent, written by you, including an outline of the reason for your interest in Bradley Theatre, career goals and aspirations.
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation written by teachers or directors who have seen and know your work.

You may bring these materials with you at the date of your audition or send them before your audition date.

Auditions/Interviews/Presentation of Portfolios:

Audition Dates:

Friday, January 25, 2008

Friday, February 8, 2008

You must schedule an appointment for an audition day.  Please do not be late; if for reasons beyond your control you are not going to be punctual, call to notify us.  If these dates above are not feasible, applicants may set up an alternate day or, if the options above are impractical, send an audition tape.

On the audition day, you may sit in on classes, have lunch with theatre students, meet the faculty, perform, interview and present portfolios, tour the department as well as other parts of the University, and observe a rehearsal or see a mainstage or lab production.

Performance

You need to bring two (2) prepared and memorized contrasting monologues from a play.  In addition to the monologues, you have the option of performing 16 bars of a song sung to taped accompaniment.  The whole audition is not to exceed 3 minutes.

Production

Designers and technicians need to prepare a portfolio of their work up to the present.  Any programs, pictures, design drawings and renderings, light plots, reviews or promptbooks should be included.  The applicant will be asked to present his or her portfolio and answer questions from the theatre faculty.

All applicants will have an interview with the theatre faculty.

Guidelines:

Theatre talent scholarships are available in amounts ranging from $500 - $4000 per year and are renewable annually.

Scholarships are reserved for theatre majors; you may double-major but theatre must be your primary major.

To retain scholarships students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average, participate actively and consistently in the production program and other departmental activities, and maintain the theatre major.
