From your first semester, where you participate in our “New Faces” production, until you graduate, you will have the experience of taking a leading role in your theatre education -- on stage, back stage, in the classroom, and working with nationally recognized guest artists and lecturers.

Founded on the best traditions of a comprehensive education, and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre, we offer both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Sciences degrees in Theatre Arts with concentrations in Performance, Production. In today’s changing world, the best way to prepare you for the real world of theatre arts is with a diverse educational experience emphasizing your particular talents and aspirations. In the Department of Theatre Arts, you have the opportunity to learn what you need to succeed from faculty and staff who are working professionals and scholars in the Theatre.
Production Program ~ Opportunity to Create!
From energizing musicals to inspiring classics of the stage, our diverse production program provides you the opportunity to develop your talents and skill while making the magic of theatre come alive. While involved at Bradley University Theatre, you will experience a wide variety of theatre genres and styles. Whether its Shakespeare or Eve Essler, Neo-classical or Post-Modern, Book-Musical or Commedia-Farce, we know the most effective way for you as a student of theatre to learn and hone your craft is through first-hand experience and practical application of your skills, and we’ll make sure you get plenty of those opportunities, from your freshman through your senior year.
Student Organizations ~ Opportunities to be Involved!
With five dynamic student organizations operating within our theatre program, you have ample opportunity to be involved with your fellow students. Whether its Improv and Sketch Comedy with Barbeque Kitten, doing something cool and technically challenging with USITT, performing with the Ministry of Experimental Theatre, volunteering for Alpha Psi Omega, the National Theatre Fraternity/Sorority, or dance with Dansee, finding a place to fit in is easy! These organizations, run by students, provide you with the chance to work in collaboration with other talented student artists, challenge yourself outside the classroom, celebrate your art, and make life-long friends.
The Iben Lectureship ~ Opportunities to Engage!
How would you like to have lunch with Tony Award-winning director Mary Zimmerman? What questions would you ask Ed Stern, Producing Artistic Director of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, about working in regional theatre? What do you think your resume would look like if you could honestly say you trained with both Shakespeare and Company and the Dell’Arte Players? That is what the Gretchen and Richard Iben Lectureship provides Bradley University Theatre students -- the opportunity and the privilege to meet and work with some of the most influential figures in contemporary theatre; like international director/theorist Augusto Boal, Broadway producer Ben Mordecai, theatre historian Oscar Brockett, award winning choreographer Chuck Davis of the African-American Dance Ensemble, and the list goes on and on.
Talent Scholarships are Available
Talent scholarships up to $16,000.00 are available to individuals with exceptional abilities in performance and production. Scholarships are competitive; awards are made to Theatre majors based upon audition or interview, letters of recommendation, and potential for leadership in the classroom and production.
